1) The first step is to attend one of the core workshops,
Building Boards That Work for organizations or
Becoming Effective Board Members for individuals.
Upcoming workshops are scheduled as follows:
Becoming Effective Board Members --
Thursday, February 28th at NMS from 5:30-8:30pm
Building Boards That Work --
Thursday, March 4th at NMS from 5:30-8:30pm
Thursday, June 12th at NMS from 5:30-8:30pm
All workshops are held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Nonprofit Management

Additional information and registration are available in the NMS
Training Institute by
clicking here.
2) At the training, you will be given a Board Connection
application. Once you have completed and returned the
application to NMS, you will then be added to
the database.
3) The information provided in the applications will enable staff
to identify potential matches. Individuals will be provided initially
with information on three organizations whose mission and needs
are compatible with the individual’s preferences. Individuals
must then take the initiative in contacting organizations and
continuing the process of interviewing and screening until an
offer is made and accepted. If no suitable match is found among
the organizations provided, additional contacts will be provided.
Individual profiles will only be given to organizations with the
consent of the individuals.
4) Nonprofit Management Solutions will
provide follow-up to both organizations and individuals enrolled
in Board Connection with resources and additional
training opportunities to assist in making this board experience
successful for all parties.
