How to Apply
Organizations must have been incorporated for a minimum of 3 years to be eligible to apply for an Award.
Complete the online Entry Form in its entirety:
1) All applicants will complete Part A.
2) Applicants will then select one award category for their entry and complete only that section of Part B.
3) Applicants will need to upload the following requested supporting documents
- a current Board Roster with affiliations
- most recent financial audit
- a high resolution logo for use in both print and on the web
(Logos provided must be at least 300 dpi and can be submitted in multiple file formats including .eps, .tiff, .jpg, .gif.)
Apply in one award category only.

Selection Process
An Awards Selection Panel has been recruited representing a variety of community sector stakeholders including business, nonprofits, government, education and from among our consumer populations. Each panelist is knowledgeable about the work of our local nonprofit sector, experienced in nonprofit work and generally acknowledged as a leader in our San Diego community. Depending on the number of applications submitted, the Panel will work in teams to identify the top three finalists in each of the four award categories. The entire Selection Panel will then participate in the selection of a winner for each Grant Award. All finalists and the grant recipients will be acknowledged at the Salute to Excellence Luncheon.
Selection Criteria
Entries will be evaluated and scored primarily through the information provided in the application form submitted on line. The following general criteria will be considered in addition to the specific criteria described in each individual award category:
To what extent has the applicant
- Demonstrated significant achievement, impact or innovation
- Met and turned a major challenge into an opportunity
- Leveraged resources for a new strategic direction or improved outcome
- Embraced and demonstrated best-practice applications to advance a mission
